The International Polar Year is a large scientific programme focused on the
Arctic and the Antarctic from March 2007 to March 2009. IPY, organized through
the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the World Meteorological
Organization (WMO), is actually the fourth polar year, following those in
1882-3, 1932-3, and 1957-8. In order to have full and equal coverage of both
the Arctic and the Antarctic, IPY 2007-8 covers two full annual cycles from
March 2007 to March 2009 and will involve over 200 projects, with thousands of
scientists from over 60 nations examining a wide range of physical, biological
and social research topics. It is also an unprecedented opportunity to
demonstrate, follow, and get involved with, cutting edge science in real-time.
This year is the first time for ORARI ( Indonesian Amateur Radio Organization
), take a part in this global campaign, this special callsign was issued by the
Orari Central Java Region and Local of Kebumen Central Java.
YE2IPY will be on air from 25th Nov 2007 to 25th Nov 2008 inclusive. We thank

Indonesian: Pertama kalinya ORARI melalui Orari Lokal Kebumen dengan dukungan
ORARI Daerah Jawa Tengah mendapatkan kepercayaan sebagai host operator dalam
menyambut International Polar Year 2007-2008 kiprah ini adalah dalam rangka
memberikan support secara moral melalui jalur Amatir Radio sebagai ujud
kepedulian kita dalam ikut melestarikan bumi secara global. Awal dari
keikutsertaan ini adalah dari ajakan dari rekan kami di ARI( Assozzione
Radioamatori Italiani ) yaitu IØYKN ( Nuccio Meoli) sebagai award manager
International, dan IW1CYZ/Ø sebagai station IPY yang telah aktif terlebih
dahulu.
YE2IPY akan mengudara dengan special call IPY di 2m, 80m dan 40m untuk
Indonesia dengan multioperator melibatkan rekan-rekan Orari Lokal Kebumen,
sebagai proses pembelajaran dan pengembangan diri. dan akan mengudara secara
Internasional pada semua band Amatir.
