First became a ham in 1976. Operate mostly HF CW. Lately have gotten interested
in 2 meter and helped put a repeater into operation, serving my county and
surrounding counties. Due to my small yard, I use vertical antennas. I have a
pre-WARC Butternut multiband and a new MFJ-1798, ten band. My old Yaesu FT101EX
and Kenwood TS-830C are still going strong. For variety, I run a Heathkit HW-8,
QRP. It is the first rig I used, back when I became a ham. I built it while
taking the novice instruction course. It was my only radio for two years. Over
the past 25 years, my interest in haming has been up and down. Right now it is
up and I am enjoying the contacts and local ham friends.
