Hi Fred,
This is an executable only distribution of the Linux application "LinuxQRZ".
It allows full access to the QRZ cdrom database files, including both the
internet address and the jpeg images.
This archive should include the following files:
-rwxrwxr-x 1 dave dave 272481 Jul 5 09:05 LinuxQRZ
-rw-rw-r-- 1 dave dave 1809 Jul 5 09:07 README
-rwxrwxr-x 1 dave dave 90 Jul 5 09:06 install
-r-xr-xr-x 1 dave dave 170128 Jul 5 07:58 libimg1.2.so
-rwxrwxr-x 1 dave dave 45349 Jul 5 07:58 libqrz.so
Extract the files to a temporary directory, for example ~/temp. Where ~ denotes
your home directory.
List the directory contents in long format (ls -l) and make sure all of the
files are executable. The attributes should be as above. If they are not, then
execute 'chmod 774 *' in the temp directory.
The executable file 'LinuxQRZ' requires certain libraries to available on your
system:
libtk8.0.so
libtcl8.0.so
libX11.so.6
libm.so.6
libdl.so.2
libc.so.6
ld-linux.so.2
These should be on every distribution of Redhat 6.1.
You can check for these by executing 'ldd LinuxQRZ' and reviewing the output.
In order for the primary executable to find the dynamic object files (.so),
it is necessary that they be in established library directories and included in
the library database. The 'install' script program will do that for you. Take
a look at it before deciding to execute it. Checking before executing any
script is always recommended. You can do each step separately if you prefer.
You need to be logged on as root to successfully execute the install script.
The program expects to find the cdrom mounted at /mnt/cdrom.
After installation, login as user; mount the cdrom and execute 'LinuxQRZ'.
Let me know if you have any problems.
