The 4:1 baluns in antenna tuners can be subjected to very hostile conditions (mainly ver high impedances and hence, high voltages) depending upon the length of the transmission lines. Therefore special attention is paid to the desigh of the balun and the best length for one-half of the diapole and the feedline. For antenna tuners, experience has shown that a balun with a rather large powdered iron toroidal core, connected as a voltage (Ruthroff's design) balun, to the be preferred choice. These 10KW baluns can also be used for high power log periodic antenna and G5RV.
This balun is suitable for outdoor use, but was used indoors. $50.00

After years of designing and building projects, I'm still continuing to
unwind a ton of items surplus to my current interests. Note: All parts New Old Stock with long leads etc..
SuperSCAF filter Semi-kit
In April 1988, QST published a high performance audio filter called
SuperSCAF (switched capacitor audio filter) that later was manufactured
commercially as an accessory, used in the QRP Plus by Index Labs etc.
The heart of this audio filter were flexible, high performance AMI S3528
(low pass) and S3529 (high pass) ICs. Within these chips is a 7th order
elliptical filter , clock generator, programmable frequency divider and
a pair of buffer amplifiers. Just a few external parts (e.g. capacitors,
resistors and a 3.58MHz color-burst crystal) were required. A key
feature of the filter were the ability, using BCD rotary thumb wheel
switches, to digitally select the filter cut-off frequencies and
bandpass (i.e. 0327 = 300 - 2400 Hz, 0307 = 300 - 700 Hz etc.).
Additionally, with the 7th order elliptical response, the attenuation
was quite steep (greater than 50dB at 1.3 times cut-off frequency)
producing a filter with a great shape factor.
I put together a semi-kit to build a low pass version of the SuperSCAF
filter. Each kit includes a S3528B, a 4 1/2 digit BCD rotary thumb wheel
switch and a 3.58 MHz crystal, you just add a hand full of capacitors,
resistors and power.

A variety of HTs (2 meter and 440 MHz) and associated accessories:
I know this is a long list, but I have tried to group items.
Kenwood TH-41 AT HT for 440 MHz.
This compact HT has thumbwheel switches to select the operating
frequency. The HT has about 1.5 watts output, and a decent
receiver. It has a touchtone pad on it, and is very simple to
operate. You likely will not need to read to manual to use this
one! It includes a good battery (new insert a couple months ago),
charger, rubber duck, carrying strap, and paper work for $60.
Alinco DJ-191, 2 meter HT
This unit has about everything except the kitchen sink in it. It
has a very large, readable LCD display that I can read without
my glasses! It has about 7 watts max output, and the receiver
is great. It covers from 136 to 174 MHz, so it covers all of the
weather and VHF public service frequencies. Of course it has
memories and all sorts of scan features. Touchtones (DTMF)
and PL (subaudible) tones are included.
This unit works 100% and looks extremely nice. It includes
a good battery pack, belt clip, rubber duck, and paper work
for $100.
Speaker microphone for Alinco HT above, plus many others.
I thought it was actually an Icom HM-9, but I can not find that
written on it any place. I do know that it works fine with the
Alinco HT. It looks OK also. $18
Yaesu FT-26, 2 meter HT
This HT has a nice LCD display, with memories, scan, and
subaudible tones. Basically, all the things one would expect in
an HT. This unit comes with the desk charger, and not a wall
charger. The battery seems to hold a charge OK, but seems
somewhat weak, so it may need an "insert" soon. It works
100%, and looks very nice.
Rubber duck and paper work included for $75.
Realistic HTX-202 for 2 meters
This HT has about 5 W output, or 1 W in low power. It
has an exceptional receiver on it, with extremely good
front end characteristics. Of course it has memories,
scan, and all the normal bells and whistles, including a
very readable LCD display. A touchtone DTMF pad is
included on it, as are PL (subaudible) tones.
This particular unit has a problem, however.
There is no transmit audio when using it strictly as an HT.
It does have audio when using it with a speaker mic,
which would indicate that the mic element in the HT itself
is bad. My eyesight is no longer good enough to work on
these small parts. Fix the mic element, and you should be
in great shape. As an alternative, use it with a spekaer
mic, and don't worry about it! Subaudible tone, touchtone
pad, and all of those parts appear to work fine, as does the
receiver.
Cosmetically, the unit looks very close to new.
I am selling the HT only, with no accessories. $35
Radio Shack 19-300 Battery pack for HT-202 and HTX-404
This is a good battery pack for the Realistic HTs. It also fits
some of the Icom HTs such as the IC-2 AT, IC-02 AT,
IC-4 AT, etc.
This is the 7.2 volt, 600 ma hour NiCad pack.
It works fine and looks great. $25
BNC to PL-259 antenna adapter
For use with the Realistic HTX-202 and HTX-404 HTs and also
Alinco DJ-191 above, or any other HT with BNC connector.
It will convert the BNC connector on the HT, so that you
can use a normal antenna with a PL-259 connector. Like new. $5
Antenna adapter for Kenwood TH-21 / 31 / 41 HTs
This adapts the antenna connector found on these HTs to a
standard BNC connector. $5

Icom IC-H16 and IC-U16 |

Up for sale is a pair of Icom commercial HT's, these are the commercial cousins of the IC-02 and 04AT. They feature 16 keypad programmable channels, full CTCSS encode and decode, and use the same battery packs and chargers as their ham versions. The only differences are in the display, the 16's display channel numbers and scan list indicators and not frequency. There is no VFO. Radio is put into program mode by entering "159357". I will include programming instructions. Very easy to do. Unlike the ham versions, they decode CTCSS and have reverse burst (no squelch tail). The other difference is the antenna connector, the H/U16 use a TNC type, where as the 02/04 use a BNC.
The H16 is in very good shape, no real wear. It is a later production model. The U16 is older, a little more wear, but not beat up. They both work and have full TX and RX. Included are two batteries, one is a NEW MaHa BP-8 NiMH super capacity pack, the other is the original CM-7 Icom battery which does hold a charge, but could use a new insert. The inserts are cheap and easy to change out, as these packs use screws and are easy to open. Two wall chargers are also included, as well an assortment of antennas. The original OEM Icom VHF whip, as well as a Larsen stubby. The UHF comes with two stubby antennas. Both radios have belt clips attached. Radios pictured are actual ones for sale, not a stock photo.
I am asking 125.00 plus 10.00 shipping for the pair. These are both type certified for part 90 commercial use, so those of you with commercial use can LEGALLY use these on the commercial bands, unlike using modified ham radios which is no-no.

This Yaesu DVS-2 Digital Voice Recorder is a 9.5 out of 10 and comes with the original box but no manual. That however can be downloaded online. It is basically plug and play and can be used to record incoming as well as outgoing audio. Great for contesting.
Asking $150.00 as they have went for more on eBay. This one is in PRIMO shape and only lacks the manual.
