I have owned this 735 for about 2 years. It developed a problem where the mic gain appears to be stuck at maximum and is probably due to a bad mic gain pot. By looking at the schematic you can see that if the ground side of the mic gain pot is open this would be the case. The rig works fine on CW but unfortunately can't be used for phone or digital from sound card. If you have the patience and dexterity to repair this rig this might be a good project box. Not a single scratch or guff on it. Even the LCD display is crystal clear & the speaker sounds fabulous. This rig was recently bought from a ham friend of mine & was kept in a non-smoking enviornment it's entire life.

Bargain Kenwood TS-870SAT |

Other than a light scratch or two on the top of the cabinet and what's listed below, this TS-870SAT is beautiful to look at and works perfectly. It's stock as far as options are concerned. It comes with the hand mic and the original manual, and a power cable, but I do not have the box.
There are three things you need to know about this rig that explains my low selling price.
1. The concentric potentiometers for CW Keyer speed and AGC have been bumped into and are no longer true. This means that rotating one will cause the other to turn unless you old onto the knob. Because the AGC can be set on a per-mode basis through the menu, this may or may not be important. Also, I suppose it's possible to bend the shafts back to their proper alignment, but I'm afraid to try that for fear of breaking one or the other. Also and most obviously, the pots can be replaced.
2. There is a very faint trace of cigarette smoke. It's a bit more noticeable on the manual due to the porous paper. You may or may not even notice it.
3. There is a stain of some kind on the side of the rig without the handle. I've tried Citrus-type cleaner to no avail in an attempt to clean it up. You may have better success.
Here's a chance to save a few hundred $$$ on a great radio that should deliver many years of solid operating pleasure.
