Kenwood TK-2180 VHF Commercial Portable |

I have for sale a Kenwood TK-2180 VHF Commercial Portable. This is the full display/keypad model. Included is:
Radio, 2 antennas (one short, one long), 2 batteries, belt clip, Speaker/Microphone, and drop-in charger.
Just a quick overview of the "desirable" features: This radio will do up to 512 channels, MDC 1200 (or FleetSync, but not both), and will do wide/narrow channels. It also does the "aqua" voice inversion (not legal for use on ham bands!).

I will program the first 16 channels for you at no charge. You must provide documentation for transmit on all channels. Amateur Radio license will grant TX on ham bands. Public safety will require letter(s) of authorization.

Kenwood TS-830 |

I have a TS-830 for sale.
Cosmetically I would give it a 8 out of 10 due to some cover scuffing on the top right side. It has ONLY the SSB filter installed. Comes with original owners manual, MC-30S hand mic, and power cord. I have gotten great audio report on this rig and hate to part with it, but the economy is bad for all of us. The band selector switch coupler has been replaced with a metal type (thanks Ken). All other knobs and switches are tight and functioning properly. I get the full 100-110 watts output on the rig. The external speaker and tuner in the picture are NOT Included.

I am including a 708 desk mic and a Heil Proset V HC5 cartridge headset, along with the USB to serial port adaptor system. It has factory 2.038? software, but I will install 2.041 beta if desired. Apache/SB-10/Mohawk combo + D104 |

This is your opportunity to own a vintage heathkit combo. All in excellent working condition. The apache has had the W3SCC (Fran) mods done to the audio chain and push to talk added, also a fan has been installed in the unit. The mohawk has had all of the K5AD mods from Electric Radio done except for the temperature compensation. The SB-10 had a fan installed in the unit to keep it cool. All are working 100% and have been fully realigned. The D-104 is not original as it has the replacement kobitone mic module and the preamp circuit has been redone to much cleaner than the original. I have copies of all of the manuals including the front end alignment manual for the mohawk. A lot of work has gone into these. I am looking for $600 for everything. I will also include extra tubes. IC718 vs IC706MKIIG on HF |

Can anyone with experience with these two tell me if there are any tangible differences between these when operating on 20/40/80 meters in SSB? Are the internals pretty much the same?
I'm considering the IC718 for casual operation at home. The price and form factor is attractive but I'll stretch my budget if SSB on the 706 is better. I know the 706 does higher bands but I've already got that covered so I don't see that as a reason for me to spend more at this time. |
