Been listening in since I was 8 but never actually managed to spend the time to take the license, anyway on the way to a full licence now.
The shack consists of only VHF/UHF gear, an ICOM ID51e, ICOM IC2820 with a UT123, an Alinco 635e, a Vero Telecom VR2200V, a Kenwood TM-D710GE and a couple of UVF-9 handies. Trying hard with DSTAR and am getting there now I think. I use my id51 and ic2820 thru to a dvmega and raspberry pi and then on to the G4KLX software and the Internet. Also own a Kenwood TH-D72 to take out with me on my RAYNET adventures. :)
I am an Engineer by trade with all of my working life spent in Air Traffic Control tasks of one sort or another, still got at least15 years to go until retirement.
You will find me on DSTAR most days and a look for M6MSM or 2E0GTT will find me, I have to use my foundation license to work around callsign routing not working on 2E0 calls. Just in case you are interested why, it's because IRC never allowed user names beginning with numbers, so it's just an old rule that I doubt will ever be changed. Oh and if you think using Quadnet and putting the r in front of the call fixes this, it doesn't.
