Hello from Mainhausen, Germany. Mainhausen is a village of about 9200 inhabitants located approx. 25 km south east Frankfurt in the countryside of the Rhein-Main-Area. It consists of the two communities Mainflingen and Zellhausen. Zellhausen, were I live, has about 5100 inhabitants and is the birthplace of Käthchen Paulus an aviation pioneer and Germany’s (maybe the world’s) first female parachutist. She is the inventor of the packed parachute. Therefore my QSL card is a copy of a historical poster of Käthchen Paulus.
The German time signal DCF 77 is located between Mainflingen and Zellhausen and transmits the official German time at 77.5 kHz which can be received within a radius of about 2000 km.
Mainhausen has an area of 1788 hectare were 46% are forest and 26% are fields, meadows, gardens, etc. If you like you can get some more information of Mainhausen at www.mainhausen.de unfortunately in German only. Nice pictures are at www.mainhausen.de/buergerbilder.html.
I am licensed since 1984 as DD2FD with a former German VHF/UHF license and upgraded to DL5ZBS in 1986. Furthermore I am licensed as KS4IY. On HF I use an Icom IC-756 PRO III running 100 Watts through a Fritzel DO505 beam (3 elements on 10; 15 and 20m and 2 elements on 12 and 17m) and a G5RV as well as a 18m-vertical for 30 to 160m. On 2m I run my IC-756 PRO III with transverter (TR 144 H +40) or a Kenwood TS-711. Both with 25 Watts into a 10 element yagi. For FM QSOs on 2m/70cm I have a Kenwood TM-732 with 45 and 35 Watts respectively through a Diamond X200 ground plane. Beam, yagi and ground plane are mounted on a Flammex Pull telescope tower on the top of our house. The shack is just beside the tower in the attic. When I am on the air the antennas are winded up and finally the beam is in a high of about 16m, the yagi of about 17m and the feeding point of the ground plane of about 18m over ground level. I appreciate every nice and interesting QSO (DX as well as local ones) and will QSL via the bureau for sure. If an immediate QSL is needed direct is also possible.
Looking forward to meeting you on the bands.
