Hi. I have recently returned to amateur radio after a lay-off of about 20yrs and I'm enjoying the new modes of operation now available, especially D-Star and I normally work through my local D-Star repeater, GB7WF on DCS005M, using an Icom ID-E880.
Not done much on HF as yet but hope to improve the score there when I can get a reasonable antenna up. Despite being semi-retired, there never seem to be enough hours in the day.
5/10/2013: Finally got onto HF with Icom IC-7200 and multi-band wire dipole (off-centre fed for 40M and up from M0CVO Antennas.. working well.)
14th Dec 2013: Currently in Peru (OA4) for a few months. Managing one or two contacts on HF using FT-817ND portable and Buddistick vertical on 10Mtrs, great fun.
Nov 2014-April 2015: Back in Peru again but off the air. Hoping to get active again with new antennas and a new mode (PSK31) as soon as I get back home.
Belated update, but back in UK, active on D-Star and hope to get HF up and running soon when my 'Shack on a Desk' project is finished.
