I was licenced in 1983 with G6TBF living in the south of England. (Served 15 yrs with the Royal Corps of Signals) 1963-1978.
Later in 1983 I obtained my Class A full licence and became G4VJI.
I was very active on HF SSB & CW, data modes like Amtor and PSK between 1983 and 1995. Had a few heart attacks which slowed me down somewhat and did not go back on the air till 2015 after a bout of Cancer which I managed to come through thanks to the British National Health Service.
Decided to take up the hobby once more at the instigation of my good friend Richard G4UGB ex GM4UGB.
Started up with an ICOM IC-7100 all mode. Am now active on D-Star using a local Gateway, HF and slowly CW, RTTY & having great fun with JT65 and the amazing contacts you can have.
Refurbished my SCAM 12 mast which is now back in use, am now fully conversant with it. Any problems or for advice then email me. Using a co-linear on top for 2m & 70cm, with a modified ZS6BKW using slotted 300 ohm feeder.
On the top is a TGM MQ-26SR 2 element beam turned by a SPID RAU Rotator.
