Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Licensed as of 2/2012 and received my General as of 4/2012. Based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota USA. I enjoy operating both localy and on HF. Also enjoy D-STAR, DMR, EchoLink and IRLP. When on the air I am typically monitoring the W0ZWY IRLP repeater on node KC0TJN(7346), the W0ZWY 2m repeater, W0ZWY D-Star gateway,  BM TG 3146 (SD Statewide), and the South Dakota Link.  Also bounce between D-Star REF030C and REF001C.

For HF, have spent my time on 20M & 40M on PSK31 and JT65, and have enjoyed it quite a bit. Have recentlly rediscovered SSB and have had fun listening to and checking into HF nets.

I am active in the Sioux Empire Amatuer Radio Club as a member of the technical committee, board of directors, and was appointed the Emergency Coordinator for Sioux Empire ARES in 2014.

My HF station consits of an Icom IC-7300 and  MJF 993B tuner.  My Go-Kit contains a Yaesu 897D, LDG AT-897, SignalLink USB, and a FT-7800. The antenna is a MapleLeaf Studios 53 ft. end-fed dipole running in the attic at about 30 ft. On SSB I run 100W and on PSK31, 35W, and 15W on JT65. On UHF/VHF I run an ID-5100. Portable, I'm currently running a FT-7900R mobile, Icom ID-51a HT for D-Star, TYT MD380 for DMR, Motorola HT, and a VX-8RD.  Never can have enough HT's, HiHi.  Also enjoy monitoring our local digital public service systems.

I work as a Senior IT Systems Engineer for a data center and managed services company during the day, focusing on cloud, virtualization, storage and network administration. I am happily married to my YL since 2006 and have two beautiful daughters. Other interests include photography, videography, virtualization, Apple / Macintosh, and computers in general.

Direct NTS radio messages via the Region 10 Daytime Net or directly via WinLink. QSL directly to my address (no SASE nessecary), eQSL.cc (AG), QRZ or via LoTW!  Locate KD0QYR on APRS / DPRS.
