Boring Stuff

I was born in Birmingham, England more years ago than I care to remember. My father was a Polish paratrooper who settled in England after WW2. For 25+ years I worked all over the world on various industrial projects, after which I jacked it all in and bought a pub/B & B in the picturesque, historic village of Tintagel in Cornwall, England. I'm married with two children, a vintage motorbike and car and a Kenwood 590SG ... yes, I'm an anorak, but happy that way smiley

Radio Stuff

  • Kenwood 590SG connected to a TGM MQ-1W two element beam mounted 10 metres (33ft) off the ground on a rotator: all installed in the shack which unfortunately also doubles as a guest room, so from time to time I am evicted to a caravan (trailer) parked in the back garden in which I've 'installed' a Yaesu FT-450D hooked up to a Comet H-422 V dipole about 10m (33ft) off the ground.

  • A Yeasu VHF/UHF set (FT-8900R) connected to a 2m Yagi about 5m (16ft) off the ground.

British amateurs with the prefix M6 or M3 are legally limited to a maximum of 10 watts PEP. Amateurs with a prefix begining with the number '2' are limited to 50 watts PEP and even full licence holders with a G' or M0 prefix (that's me folks) are limited to 400 watts - so give us a break in the pile up (pretty please).

P.S. The car is a 1935 Austin 7 Ruby. I've spent so much on radio gear that I can't afford a new car ...
