WAB Square Tango Queen 26

An ancient, one brain celled tenor saxophonist who had to give up as the Sheltered Housing neighbours did not appreciate slow blues. Needed something else to occupy the single neuron, so drifted into being a ham.

For some obscure reason, interested in small loops, doublets and long wires. All HF of course as used to listen to the Crystal Palace repeater in the 80s and 90s. Enough to put anyone off VHF for life. Despite this previous experience, now active on 2 and 4 metres, 70 cms and soon DStar, whatever that is but under the guidance of a clubmate, has proved to be interesting.

HF Gear. IC-7100 is now active and crossed the pond although these are nothing to do with me just the W stations' incredible antenna farms and developments. The venerable Icom IC-706 Mkl is now backup. An LDG IT-100 sorts out the antenna as doublet and strapped Marconi Tee on Top, 80 and the odd bits of 40. Otherwise it acts as a 30 metre doublet which struggles to reach 3 metres agl, driven by an interwotsit provided Balun Designs 4:1 current unit. The MFJ Artificial Ground has been put back into commission and "SEEMS" to make a difference. Added a bhi speaker and it does exactly what it says on the tin, so bring on the DX h.i., without the threat of going mutton. For our non cockney readers, this is rhyming slang, mutton Jeff = deaf.

VHF/UHF Gear. The 7100 drives a two metre/70 cms colinear that hangs in an oak tree alongside a Sirio 4 metre. All are fed with Ultraflex 7. Forbidden to driil holes, so all feeds have to be slim enough to pass through closed windows.

Member of Bromley and District Amateur Radio Society in gratitude for my tickets.

Member of Surrey Radio Contact Club in gratitude for all the advice and encouragement.

Member of the RSGB in gratitude for the half price offer. Now renewing at full price despite what could be be the World's most boring magazine, Rad(ical)Com(munism)? This joke was criticised in one of my club magazines, so you know what will happen if you reuse it in the UK.
