This is my Summer Home in Hamiltn County in the Adirondack Mtns., New York State   FN23SX.

My qth in the summer is in Long Lake, NY, in the center of the Adirondack Mountains in upper New York State.  I spend a lot of time hiking, canoeing and a little biking along with amateur radio.  I am located close to the Adirondack high peaks, 42 of them over 4,000 feet (1,219 m).  Not very high compared to other mountains around the world I admit but very wild and rugged and have hiked them all and many others. I am 46-R #6820.

 My rig is a YAESU FTDX3000, a Ameritron ALS-600S amplifier and a Heil Pro 7 headset.  My HF antennas are a 20 M dipole at 37' (11 meters), 80M dipole NVIS at 24' (7 meters),  or a all band dipole at 32' (10 meters) on 40, 30, 17, 15, 12, and 10 M.  I use a YAESU FT-8800 and a Diamond V200A antenna for 2 and 70 cm.

The Adirondack Park is a 6,000,000 acre (24,281km2) park with about 55% private owned and the rest belonging to New York State.  The land area is larger than 8 U.S. States.  It is larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier, Great Smokey and Big Bend National Parks combined!  About 5,ooo people live full time in the park with an additional 145,000 part time in the summer.  There are 3,000 lakes and ponds and 30,000 miles (48,280 km) of rivers, streams and brooks with 2,000 miles (3,218 km) of hiking trails.

I passed the Novice exam in January 1954 and then on 10 February I received my license KN2GVP in the mail.  About 1980 I upgraded to Advanced and finally Extra in 2016, it only took 62 years!  My former call was K2GVP.

My first mobile rig was in 1955 using surplus WWII equipment including a PE-101-C dynamotor for B+ And a center loaded 75M antenna.  ARC 5 command transmitters were going for $15 in those days and could be easily converted to 12 V.

This is my Winter Home in Madison County in central  New York State FN23BD.

My winter QTH is Bridgeport, NY on the South shore of ONEIDA Lake, 15 mi. (24 km) NE of Syracuse NY.  Although only a 125 miles, (201 km) From Long Lake it is a bit warmer but with a lot more snow with an annual snowfall of 123 inches, just over (3 meters) of snow.  Most of our snow comes from wind blowing over the Great Lakes picking up moisture and dumping in the form of snow on us.  Storms with a foot, 30 cm. or more are not unusual and expected throughout the winter.

My rig is a YAESU FTDX3000 and a Ameritron ALS-600S amplifier and a Heil Pro 7 headset .  My antennas are a Mosley TA-33-JR-N-WARC 3 el. on 20-15-10M with a rotary dipole on 17 and 12M and a DX Engineering DXE-4030VA-1 trapped vertical with 36 ground wires on 40 and 30M.

I use a YAESU FT-8800 on 2M and 70 cm and a Hustler dual band antenna.

73, Good luck and DX, John
