My other hobby is motorcycles. I have a 2010 Harley Ultra Classic, 1968 BSA 441 and 1969 BSA 250 and 1969 Triumph Trophy250 singles, the XYL {KB3CLV} has a 2003 Low Rider. Ham Operator since 1995, avid SWL'er since childhood. My grandfather introduced me to the magic of radio as a kid with "space sounds",BCB DXing,SWL, aircraft etc. He was WA4DAJ {sk}.


My current HF station is;

Yaesu FT 450AT, I am have fun w/ this little rig!

Kenwood TS-480 HX, Nice to have instant 200w sometimes.

Kenwood TS-700A 2m rig as an IF radio into a Tokyo Hy-power Transverter VHF to HF @ 40w.

Kenwood TS-530SP, One of my favorites.

Kenwood TS-520 (do you think I like Kenwood?)

Just added Multi Elmac AF 67. This is fun to use right now with high solar activity on 10 meters AM. Hope to see you there.

Hallicrafters R-274D/FRR For 60 years old, this radio is impressive. Warm audio fidelity and sensitivity of a new radio.

Home-brew amplifier for 10m (soon to have bandswitching added) using a pair of OLD, 250TH tubes,good for 300w AM carrier.


Amplifier is Heathkit SB-1000, one reliable 3-500Z

Antennas are;

5 elementyagi 6m,

3element tribander 10/15/20 Mosley TA-33

Buttternut ground mounted vertical 160/80/40.

Full wave Quad wire for 20m @ 50 feet aiming SE/NW

265 ft doublet@75 feet.

Steerable-two 5/8 waveGP Vertical Array for 10m (also works well on 12 and 15m)@40 feet.

I also maintain a 6 meter and a 1.35 meter repeater that are linked and cover most of Montgomery county and into the surrounding counties. All are welcome @ 51.94,neg 500kc split 88.5 tone

50 Mhz and 222 Mhz are great repeater bands for mobiles!

Echolink node #5194 (not always up)

224.2 neg 1.6 meg split 88.5 tone located in Schwenksville Pa.



Not to forget my four dogs, 2 Black Labradors,1 Husky & 1 Sheltie, man's best friend!
