I became involved in amateur radio in 1974. I found I could not be a CB'er. Licenced in 1975 as WN6AGX then up graded to WB6AGX and finally to AA6AC in the late 70's. It was my pleasure to be a United States Navy SEABEE from 1969 to 1990 when I retired from active duty. MY carry on baggage to work sites aboard MAC aircraft was a Kenwood TS 520 the antenna was in cargo or shipped ahead of me to worksite. I held operating privleges at several locations. VQ9NN Diego Garcia, KA6NN Okinawa Japan, AA6AC/KP4 Puerto Rico, KG4GN Guantanamo Bay Cuba, and AA6AC/DU2 in Subic Bay Philippine Islands. NOW simply AA6AC in USA. Love to send and receive QSL cards. Here OLD SCHOOL. The final part of the QSO is the QSL I still believe this. I try to stay at 100% outgoing. TNX to QRZ.COM for the databases. I remember the old days thoes two big call books and looking up a call. OR NOT. Current station setup is Kenwood into Cushcraft MA5V vertical. I still have my original TS520 and over the years acquired other Kenwood rigs to include a TS930S. I swap them in on out love each and everyone of them. Don't mind tuning up the older tube rigs. These days Seabees move to worksites on MAC aircraft mostly. In WWII they would be on a transport SHIP most likely. I recently discovered an overlooked band 12 meters so I'm working on my WAS for 12m 34/50 found. IF you hear me on 12m give me a call. LOOKING for 16 states. I continue to work on DXCC/CW @ 213 verified at ARRL. In 2013 or so I found a new interest while DX is in a bit of lull I joined SKCC. WE use straight key and "bug" for most part. I use a skillman straight key. MY SKCC number is 6276S(granted 12/24/2015) SKCC members may use SKCC BUREAU for me OR DIRECT. I enjoy SKCC sprints. In first part of 2016 I managed to qualify for YELLOW MAPLE LEAF award. In 2018 January I upgraded MAPLE LEAF to ORANGE on 20 meters. IF YOU also are willing to do hand key or bug please check out SKCCGROUP.COM JOIN us it's FREE and your number is for LIFE. SKCC is 17K strong and worldwide. Participated in the annual K3Y event held by SKCC  2018 K3Y/6 was fair with 49 QSOs.  THEN the wind broke my vertical antenna near end of event .  I have my own K3Y/6 QSL card for issue during this yearly event.  Current age is 74 (2017). Remember I'm OLD SCHOOL and would love to exchange QSL with you AND IF SWL I WILL RESPOND to you also.  HOPE conditions / propagation will improve to useable SOON. 73's AA6AC (02/2018)
