I was licensed as a Novice (KN1WMQ) in 1962 and upgraded to a Conditional/General license with the K1WMQ call. I upgraded to Extra Class in November 2002. I applied for the AF1HS vanity call in August, 2007 and received it on October 7, 2007.

I'm located in grid FN31ni in New Haven County, CT. I enjoy DXing and County Hunting and have WAS, WAC, RCC and DXCC.  The USA-CA-500 County Award is currently being processed.

Although I subscribe to both eQSL and LOTW, I prefer to receive traditional QSL cards for use in award hunting.

I operate on 80, 40, 20, 17, 15, 12, and 10 meters SSB, 2 and 6 meters FM as well as 220 MHz and 440 MHz FM.

10X #12054, OMISS #8696, MARAC R-4531.

The home rig is an Icom IC-706MKIIG running 100 watts (and other times a Kenwood TS-520 running 180 watts) into a GAP Titan DX Vertical. Its base is 8 feet above ground. I also use a Yaesu FT-1500 as a 2-meter base unit into a Workman UVS-200 Dual-Band (2-m, 70 cm) Base Antenna.

When running mobile, the IC706 connects to a Little Tarheel II that covers 80 through 6 meters. It also connects to a 2-meter/70 cm dual-band antenna for 144 or 440 MHz service. There's also a Yaesu FT1500M for 2-meters, an Icom IC-2AT running APRS via an Opentracker, and a Kenwood TK-981 for 900 MHz. These are all mounted in a Havis-Shields console. There are currently 10 externally mounted antennas on the vehicle (an '05 Dodge Durango) as well as an internally-mounted antenna.
