It all started when I was a young boy of twelve years and got a transistor radio as a birthday present. It was only capable to receive AM stations, but at that time there where a lot of stations on AM especially at night. I found myself glued to this little thing especially at night and early morning hours, being fascinated to be able to listen to stations abroad. Soon after that I bought myself a better radio which was able to receive LW and SW stations, and for a longer period I was chasing distant stations as a regular SWL. I would never became active, if not a friend visited me and noticed my Satellite 3400 radio. He asked me what stations I could receive and I showed him, that there were also private stations to be heard like amateur stations and CB stations on 11m which were allowed to operate without any licence. He was interested to be a CBer and convinced me that we should do it together. After several years I wanted to leave the citizen band in order to seriously get into amateur radio and making use of all the advantages it offers. Since 1995 I got my license and never regret it. In 2015 I had to remove my antennas in the attic, as the owner of the house wanted to change it into another flat, so now I work with antennas for 2m, 70cms, 20m and 40m being indoors. And due to my dog I limited output to max. 30 Watts. Occasionally I'm qrv /mobile with a friend's car, and we drive away from the city, and I enjoy being on the air without any QRM and with sligthly more RF-power, mainly on 20m. Besides amateur radio I like music a lot, and listening to old American mystery radioplays, being outside in nature with my dog for hours, and reading science fiction stories.
