Thank you for looking me up in QRZ. If we have already worked thank you, if we haven't, well I hope we will soon.

My interest in Amateur radio started when I met RHG “Bob” Williams (A4XIZ) while working in the Sultanate of Oman in 1980. He was a CW man and I was fascinated by the way he could talk on the “key” and talk to me at the same time. Simply amazing!!

I left Oman and my interest in radio took a back seat until I was working in the Sultanate of Brunei. I met a group of expatriates who re-kindled my interest and eventually I was issued a license in 1983, V85AK, and was very active until leaving in 1989.

Once again due to family and work commitments radio was put on the back burner, but the interest was always there.

Eventually in 2009 I took the UK Foundation License exam and passed, getting M3NMK. Sadly I was never in the UK long enough to continue on with the Intermediate and Full license, something that I intend to do at some time. I took and passed the American exams and have an Amateur Extra class license, AG5AI.

I have finally retired from gainful employment (2014) and live in the South West of France, just outside of a small village called Amailloux, in the Deux Sevres ,with my wife Ros, German Shepherd Desy, cat Jasper, two ducks and a chicken. Generally we are kept busy with 8000 sq meters of land, cutting grass, tending the vegetable plot etc. I have finally been issued a French license F4VRF and am now trying to make up for lost time on the air.

My set up is very basic, I use an old Yaesu FT 747 GX fed by an inverted V Doublet cut for 40m, running north - south at 10m, a home brew half size G5RV running east - west at 12m and a modified 11m three element beam for 10m at 12m. I do enjoy messing with wire antennas. I have just joined the Worked All Britain group, book number 21220, so please quote your WAB square when applicable.

Once again than you for taking the time to look me up and hope to meet up on the air.

F/G6LKB/P operating at F4VRF location using a homebrew inverted V antenna for 40, made at great expense from "paper fasteners" Reports exceeded our expectations, using 50 watts we were getting 5/9 from UK stations.
