Started in Amateur Radio in early 1986 after completing all exams and CW test. This was after many years on CB radio (old AM days and SSB).

Set up and ran the Milton Keynes Scout Amatuer Radio Group  in 1992-2003 at the local campsite for the local Scouts in MK and surrounding area. See G0SMK for more pictures etc. This was very successful, due to the very good antenna's we had, we ran the UK Scout Net every Saturday morning on 80m for many years. (with callsigns G0SMK & GB0MKS for JOTA) and we also ran many Special Event stations for the Scout Association and also at the nearby Bletchley Park (callsign GB4BPX) for station X with a special award being offered in June 1992.

Our Scout Radio Station at our local campsite (home brew 2 ele multi band quad, + extended double zepp for 40m and various verticals for HF, 2m & 23cm). Plus some of the QSL cards I have used with the Scouts.

Was very active untill 2001 on all bands,DX chasing and 'rag chewing' from home QTH and 2003 from Scout campsite.

But alas with work commitments and family this all stopped in 2003, and then grandchildren came along - Tempus Fugit

I have had to wait till 2015, at a new QTH and now retired (Aug 2015) from my job in Telecommunications, I have finally got time to get back into radio again (for a few hours a week!!! at least)

My basic equipment at present is.........

100 watts and piece's of wire...............

Kenwood TS850S (had for the last 23 years, all upgraded except 4 IC's on DDS board)

Old 6631 chips but Caps all upgraded.

Short Doublet or G7FEK for 80m-10m (still experimenting) and 1/4 wave GP for 20m & 17m (old fishing rod and wire)

old laptop which I will eventually set up for sstv, rtty etc when I find time...........

My Other hobbies - Photography (mainly wildlife), Travelling, Rugby Union, Motorcycling and friends.

One of a 'super pod' (3 family groups) that formed around us off Vancouver

Setting up wire antenna in Borneo

Travelling (we've so many holiday's of a life time, we lost count)

Bit of the 'good life' in Vietnam

Fly By Wire (known as Die by Wire locally)

Parascending in ZL.

                          Above: Climbing Sydney Harbour Bridge

Rugby Union (Bedford Blues,England and  grandson plays with Buckingham RFC under 7's)

above The British & Irish Lions Rugby Victorious Tour of Australia 2013.

With the wife touring around Queensland 2016. Main reason to visit VK is below........

Below - Going to see England's marvelous 3 0 Test win over Australia 2016.

Motorcycling - Cruising around Wales and the like, plus ongoing project to repair old 1994 Suzuki Bandit to make it road worthy.

Meta Alarm & immobiliser system causing a nightmare so  re-wire loom to cut it out (18 black wires), Forks, carbs etc all needed working on.

Below - All completed (carbs re-jetted) and 100% running - time to pass to new owner......

And of course                         Real Ale...... at my local pub (above)

As with all Hobbies, you have to find time to do, so radio only gets a few hours a week if I'm lucky.
