I have been interested in amateur radio most of my life, starting off with a few WW2 receivers given to me by my late Uncle Eric and being able to play with 'stuff' in his shack (a cellar in a big house on the Lancashire moors near Oldham).
My original call was G8MZS in 1977 in the days of Class A and Class B licences.
Moving to the south coast of England in the early 1980s I eventually took my CW test (12 WPM) and spent a year on the key only as I couldnt afford a full rig and it was a challenge. Obviously my interest in CW has remained and whilst I dont do as much operating as I did it's always a joy.
I still have an interest in old 'Boat Anchor' radios, keeping some alive and using them when possible, but also a reasonable line up of more modern equipment.
Thanks for looking me up - long may the spirit of Amateur Radio live on.
