Using a FlexRadio 6500 SDR transceiver, running 100 watts to a Carolina Windom 80 on all bands (80m - 6m).
From childhood I always had a passion for anything to do with electronics. As a teenager I took my licence test when living in Canberra, Australia. The first time I failed the written theory test by a few marks (no multiple choice!) but somehow passed the morse test and regulations. On resitting the theory I passed and became VK1JC. I’ve kept up the callsign although now living in the UK. I started with a Swan 500C transceiver, into a Mosley TA33Jr 3 element beam.
I currently operate SSB, lately using JT65 and JT9 digital modes. The FlexRadio transceiver works very nicely in these modes, and coupled with the excellent Log4OM logging software, operating is a pleasure. No 3 element beam these days, but I hope to add a hexbeam in the future, neighbours and planning permission permitting.
