Hello and welcome. My name is Bob and I live with my wife Margaret in the town of Weston Super Mare. Weston is a seaside town on the North Somerset Coast, about 35 kilometres south west from the city of Bristol, in South West England. I was first licensed in 1983 but after 1985 left amateur radio because of work and home commitments. I am now retired as a NHS Paramedic having done 37 years with the Ambulance Service in Bristol and enjoying amateur radio again.
The equipment here is a Yaesu FTdx5000 with a Heil boom and HM-12 microphone, also use a Heil pro-set 6 headset, Yaesu FTdx3000, Kenwood TS-480 HX, Icom IC-7000, Icom 2820 for Dstar and a Yaesu FTM-350 for 2m and 70cm. Other equipment includes a Uniden UBC780XLT scanner and an Icom IC-PCR2500 scanner. Space inside and out is very limited as we live in a park home (see picture below). Antennas in use are the Comet CHA-250BX11 vertical antenna for HF, this is on a pole in the tiny garden, there is also two duel band verticles for vhf /uhf on the roof. The Comet antenna seems to work well in the small space outside, I have nothing to compare to, so I am happy with it.
I am a member of the Weston Super Mare Amateur Radio Society and enjoying meeting new friends with the same interest, I am also a member of the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB).
Hope to work some of you in the future.
Please QSL via EQSL
