5th November 2015

Thank you all for contacting the Special Event Station we had great fun running the event from
the Planet Light vessel - pity conditions were poor for the first part of the month of May.

The Cunard vessel RMS Lusitania was torpedoed and sank off the Old Head of Kinsale Ireland
on the 7th May 1915. The Radio Officers Association, along with members of the MRMSW
will be running a month long event from the 1st ~ 31st May 2015 to commemorate the sinking
of this vessel from the Planet Light Vessel currently berthed in Canning Dock Liverpool England.
This once in life time event will be using the call sign GB100MFA, MFA being the call letters
allocated to the Lusitania.

The QTH of Liverpool was chosen as this was the Lusitania's registered port, and her final destination.
It is hoped that two stations will be active and therefore both CW & SSB can be catered for on ALL
BANDS depending upon conditions and staffing levels.

Frequency list can be obtained at the following site:-  http://www.lusitania-gb100mfa.uk/index-5.htm

29th April 2015.

Both stations are now up and running - the radio room operations in the wheelhouse will be utilising a
horizontal aerial, whilst the aft radio room will be connected to an all band whip aerial connected to the
aft railings. Onboard is a 6.5Kw diesel generator which will be run during day time operations, and for
any night operations, and also for backup we have three large batteries, two to run the rigs , and a third
to run inverters connected to the PC's located in each radio room. All 31 days have been allocated for
operation, some days only being served by one operator - as there are cabins onboard most of the ROA
members will be staying over night.

The PC's are connected together, and hopefully we will be able to upload the ADIF files to both E.QSl
and LOTW on a daily basis. The logging software being used is Log4OM and this has been tested and
found to be ideal for our purposes. If this is not possible then the files will be uploaded onto a USB stick
and then put up on E.QSL and LOTW when time allows.

QSl cards will not be printed until we know how many are required - as soon as these are received then
we will start to post them out - apologies for any delay. Please also remember to include return postage
either $2  along with a self addressed envelope. Unfortunately postal rates have increased exponentionally
in the past few years!!

Also on air during the month of May for the RMS Lusitania sinking are EI100MFA from Ireland and
the USA station N2L, so please look at their websites for frequencies and times of operation.
