This station is part of the "sos" radio week 2017 [ 21st jan to 29th jan  ] during which

time radio stations will be operating from

RNLI lifeboat stations throughout the uk ,

the purpose of which is to both help raise awareness and money for the RNLI

and the wonderfull job these volunteers do and the risks they undertake

. there will be 2 stations active from the county of Cumbria, SILLOTH, [ GB1LBC]


                                                            and any contributions to the RNLI will be gratefully accepted !

many ,many thanks to all those who popped by to say hello to GB1LBC over both weekends

a record breaking 1,369 QSO's was achieved this year, on 20m/40m in SSB,CW and PSK63 & PSK31

all participants helped achieve for GB1LBC all 6 georgraphic

zones in mixed and 20m phone ,along with 300+ confirmed maidenhead grid squares and 69

different counties being worked, a fine effort in sometimes difficult conditions by everyone,

some notable contacts also being achieved VK7BC(frank) 20m cw,VK7GG(gary) 20m ssb,VK7AC(norman)

40m ssb, HS0ZMH ( barry) 20m ssb ,JA5BZL (yasu)20m cw,W6FDR(mel) camirrillo, california,also 

OX3MC (mike,greenland) 20m ssb,and proably the northern most amateur radio club in the world VY0ERC

the eureka amateur radio club,ellesmere island fine qso again


once again many thanks again to sue& eddie at the silloth RNLI lifeboat station for the fine facilities and

excellent take off position made available to the GB1LBC operators, should anyone wish to make a donation

Update as of  5th January 2017

due to there being only 2 cumbrian  LBC stations being activated this year GB1LBC & GB5LBC

the fastest way to recieve a qsl card is direct to myself(kevin M6ENP),my addresss is correct

on this page, all uk stations sase is fine,all other stations 2 green stamps ($) plus return envelope

greatly appreciated,this years cards will be printed as required, i will endevour to return all within 2-3 days of reciept

of course EQSL(ag) is available again,as well as clublog upload


News Update as of 30/1/2017

The operators of GB1LBC would like to thank everyone who

called in this year from St Kitts on 40m,through to Australia on 20m

and the Falklands on PSK63, through to SWL reports recieved from Iraq

each and every contact is a pleasure to work and a chance to shoot

the breeze with new and old contacts alike

to this end this years operators

who as one of the original founders of LBC operation along with Bill G4USW

Had The Vision To Work Lifeboat Stations in Cumbria hence the 

LBC Suffix

Norman along with Bill Had The Vision ,Hard Work and Perserverance to

Drive the LBC series to where we are in 2017 

Achieving at the Silloth Station over two Weekends in excess

of 1200 contacts from all points of the Globe

on 40m/20m SSB/CW/PSK63

it was Norman who secured,the Lifeboat Premises at Silloth

Which From an Operation Point of view is Nothing Short of Amazing

the RNLI Crew at Silloth Regard us Operators

as was Commented on Yesterday"As One Of The Family"

They give us free reign to use There Fine Facilities to Operate

being unable to take part this year due to illness 

Because of This the NOV is now held by Paul  GM0KMJ

and the Direct QSL being done by Kevin M6ENP along with EQSL

Should any Person Who Has worked GB1LBC over the years

Wish to Send any Get Well Cards/Donations in Normans name

they can be sent to my address (top of page)
