Welcome to GB6WSG "Wargrave Scout Group", the JOTA radio station for 1st Wargrave Scouts.  The 1st Wargrave Scout Group is part of Loddon District, located in the Royal County of Berkshire, UK.  Our Troop was founded in 1909.
More information can be found on our website at: www.wargravescouts.org.

JOTA + JOTI 2017
We were active for the first time on the Saturday afternoon, betwen 2.30pm and 4.30pm from our Scout Hut on Wargrave Recreation Ground. We had 2 x HF stations: On 20m SSB/CW a Yaesu FT-991 100W and an end-feed half-wave Dipole, and on 40m a Yaesu FT-847 100W to a 40m Dipole. We also had a VHF FM Station (Trio TR-9000, 150W to a 5/8th Vertical). Contacts were made with lots of JOTA stations in the UK and also in The Netherlands. Our QRA Locator was IO91NM, WAB SU77 and the OS Grid Reference was SU794786. For JOTI we had a PC connected to ScoutLink and a PC for Skype. Our JamPuz JID was 5GB39X. Ops were Pete G1DFL and Carl M0ICR.  Big thanks to the Drowned Rats Radio Group for their support this year it helped a lot!

We also made the press! The "Henley Standard" our local newspaper published this:

JOTA + JOTI 2016
We were active on Sunday 16th October between 10am and 3pm from our Scout Hut on the Wargrave Recreation Ground. We ran 2 HF Stations, plus 1 VHF Station, all on SSB. On HF we used an Yaesu FT-101ZD 100W to a 40m Dipole, and a Trio TS-940S 100W into a 20m Dipole. We made contact with JOTA Scout & Guide Groups from all over the UK in Huddersfield, Cornwall, Scotland, Kent, Sussex and London. Further afield contacts were made into Germany, Ireland and Russia. We particularly enjoyed working the Scout Association stations GB2BG (GB2-Bear-Grylls) in Cheshire and GB2GP (GB2-Gilwell-Park) in Essex. On VHF 2m SSB, we used a Yaesu FT-847 and a Linear Amp Discovery 2 GS35B 400W into a 6Y G4CQM-design Yagi with ODX GM4PPT at 496km in IO75SK South Ayrshire.  Our QRA Locator was IO91NM, WAB SU77 and the OS Grid Reference was SU794786. Our JamPuz JID was 5GB20E.  Ops were Pete G1DFL and Rob G1TYY and we had a visit by local friend and ham Mike G3WPH. For the first time we also tried JOTI using ScoutLink the IRC Chat that is set-up by WOSM and staffed out of Kuala Lumpur.

JOTA 2015
** JOTA CANCELLED ** We had planed to be active on Saturday 17th October as part of a "Family Day, BBQ and Camp" at the Milestone Wood Scout Activity Centre in Emmer Green, Berkshire, on HF and 2M. Unfortunately 2 weeks before, we did not get enough interest from Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, Siblings, Parents and Leaders to run this camp so we had to cancel JOTA.

JOTA 2014
We were active for about 1.5 hours between 10.30am and 12 noon on Sunday 19th October on the 40M (7MHz) HF band using SSB during our "Autumn Survival Camp" weekend. We operated "lightweight style" using very basic, minimalist equipment - a trusty old Yaesu FT-101ZD, with 100W into a simple home made, half wave wire dipole 65ft in length, in the air between a flagpole and trees, not very far off the ground!  Our station was located at Dorneywood Scout Camp, Dorneywood Road, Burnham Beeches, Buckinghamshire, SL1 8PZ.  QRA Locator IO91QN, WAB SU98, and OS Grid Reference SU939855 and JamPuz JID 5GB27B.
