I'm a newer HAM (later in life) that got in to the hobby thanks to my work as an Emergency Manager.  As such, I am active in SkyWarn nets and ARES activities, serving as the Assistant Emergency Coordinator for the Iowa Section.  I wanted to learn Amateur Radio starting with the very basics, so I initially went with vintage vacuum tube HF equipment that I can work on myself - a Swan Cygnet 270B.  I subsequently added a more "modern/solid state" HF transceiver, an ICOM 735, which is a venerable work horse that enables me to go portable.  The primary rig in the shack these days is a Yaesu FT-901DM in pristine condition, which was the top of the line hybrid solid state/tube transceiver in the late '70s early '80s - a great hamfest find.  There's something about the glow of the tubes inside of a boat anchor in the dead of winter in Iowa...

HF Rigs: Yaesu FT-901DM (circa 1979); Swan Cygnet Model 270 (circa 1970); ICOM 735 (circa 1989). Amplifier: Dentron GLA-1000 0.5 KW. Tuners: E.F. Johnson Matchbox and an MFJ-941C for portable use. Mics: Astatic D-104 Silver Eagle and a Turner +3 I've had since I was a teenager.  2M Rig: ICOM IC-V8000; Mobile/portable: Two ICOM T7H's with 25W linear amp in the vehicle and a Baofeng UV-5R v2.  The latest addition is a TYT MD-380 UHF DMR handheld, as the DMR craze spreads across my state.

Attic antenna farm: due to a neighborhood covenant, home brew attic attennas are used - a 40M dipole and a G5RV Jr. are strung perpendicularly. The Johnson Matchbox tunes both to cover 80-12M. With 96 countries notched so far, who says attic dipoles don't work?  For local 2M operation, I use an old Huster CG-144 collinear mobile antenna that I converted for base use and a home brew 1/2 wave 4 element yagi end-mounted on a rotator in the attic.

Stealth outdoor antennas: I have a 20M inverted V deployed on a telescoping mast, and the most recent addition is a "Super Antenna MP-1" that I ground mount with radials so I can go portable on several bands.
