Thank you for visiting my QRZ page.  Been listening to the airwaves and talking on CB for decades but in 2015, I got my General license.  As the pictures show, a lot has changed since my first days on the air.

I started out with a Yeasu FTDX 1200 and a couple wire antennas in the back yard.  This HF setup was fine but but always room for improvement.

Meanwhile, I started  getting into 2M more. I picked up a 5 element Cuscraft beam and with the help of Don KC3GAR, I got the beam up on the roof and just about doubled my range.  Now to work on the HF setup.

First thing, I had to get rid of this giant maple tree out of my back yard.  Thank you Fred and Rich and of course Randy's Tree Service.

Next, I put up a 43 ft vertical GP from ZeroFive that allows me to work 80M - 10M with no bandwidth limits (and thank you LDG AT200Pro AutoTuner).

Then I bit the bullet and just got it over with...upgraded to the IC-7800 (bought used and in perfect condition from N7YV).  I can't believe how awesome this radio is.

And then for the crowning jewel...the Alpha 87A linear amplifier.  Also added the Palstar AT2K tuner to use with the amp. This is my current setup and should be for quite some time.  I do have plans to put up a new Hex Beam in the near future. I recently picked up my Extra Class license and having a lot of fun.  Now, if I could just retire!

73,

Andy
