(formally KK4EQM)

I am a ham operator located in Indianapolis, IN. I am was licensed as a Technician in October 2011 by the theAzalea Coast Amateur Radio Club in Wilmington, NC. I have since upgraded to general status a few months ago. I highly recommend! I was also apart of the New Hanover County ARES group in NC. Another bunch of great group of people devoted to ham radio and helping.

In Indianapolis I have already gotten up with the Indy ARES group for the county, Marion. And look forward to it.

I am radio active on UHF and VHF(mobile and handheld), including 222mhz, and HF and 6 meters in my radio room. I have a KenwoodTM-V71A dual band mobile in my SUV, a TYT-9000 222mhz mobile in the radio room at home, and a Yaesu FT-950 in the radio room as well. Being that I don't own a QTH I mostly run mono-band wire-dipoles for my HF workings and verticals for UHF and VHF.

My background is in computers mostly. I am a few credit hours away from finishing up a degree in computer engineering. I hope to use the training in a law enforcement capacity. During my educational career I was required to take a few different electronics courses. DC/AC circuit analysis, Semiconductors and Digital Electronics. This combined with ham radio has kind of fueled my interests and turned me into kind of a tinkerer and maker.

While in Wilmington with the ham club there I took part in several radio operations dealing with our museumship the USS North Carolina, or the Battleship as locals called it. The club maintained, rebuilt, and operated radios on the ship. Including originalradios using originalantennas. Just on frequencies in the ham radio spectrum of course. On top of the the club housed a modern Yaesu transceiveron board for most SSB voice comms. Again usingoriginalhardline feedline and antennas. I always really enjoyed being on the ship and now that I'm away from Wilmington I look forward to contacting the ship and getting a QSO from it and the club. Just listen during some contests for NI4BK.
