My name is Manny. I was born in Cuba and came to the United States when I was three years old. I grew up and was raised in South Florida. I played football through college in a small D-II school in Tennessee. My wife and I met in Miami and moved up to Broward County, where we now call home. I have many hobbies here. One of them is of course fishing. I became a ham in October of 2017, thinking it would be a great idea not to depend on outside communication services after an emergency such as hurricane Irma. I am a hurricane Andrew survivor (1992). Our home in Miami was destroyed and we survived in a small corner of the house while everything around us came crashing down. That was an eye opening experience and taught me how precious and fragile life is.

I now spend every living day finding new hobbies, trying new experiences, and traveling to some of the states and countries I have QSO's with. When I am not on the radio, I am most likely playing music with my family, mountain biking, hiking, road cycling, camping, fishing with my son or photographing migrating birds. I am a full time physical education teacher and I enjoy the outdoors very much.

I live adjacent to the Florida Everglades. This area is full of interesting wildlife and sights. Levees and canals sourround the adjacent roads. These levees are accesible by mountain bikes. There are deer, alligators, large marsh birds, foxes, and many more species of wildlife abound.

My equipment here is very simple. I am operating a Yaesu FT-991A with an Alpha Multi-band portable antenna. That's it! I use WSJT-X when I'm on FT-8 and Ham Radio Deluxe software when I am on SSB.
