I started out in HAM radio as a teenager back in the late 80s. My callsign was G7JUO, a class B license in the UK which was good for VHF and above.
I was a member of the Thornbury and District Amateur Radio Club (GX4ABC) before going to the University of Birmingham and joining their club (G8IUB)
After graduating as an Electronic and Electrical Engineer I got a job and HAM radio took a very back seat.
In 2011 (now living in California) I finally listened to a friend of mine who promised me that Morse code was not longer needed, and after some studying went from unlicensed to Extra within a couple of months.
