Greetings from Tucson, Arizona!

I am a Tucson native and have only left the Old Pueblo for duty in the US Army Signal Corps where I was a 31M Multichannel Communications Equipment operator. I enjoyed that work very much and I believe that work is what has led me to becoming a Ham.

Education:

I have a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and and Associate of Science in Digital Electronics. I currently work for a large semiconductor manufacturer as an IT Solutions Architect and have been with this company for the last 24 years.

Amateur Radio:

I enjoy participating in HF nets and as a member of OMISS, YLISSB and ARRL, am working towards the Worked All States award (OMISS and ARRL).

I have earned the following Awards:

ARRL WAS Mixed Phone
ARRL WAS 40m Phone

OMISS WAS Mixed
OMISS WAS 40m
OMISS WAS 80m

I'm closing in on 15m, 17m and 20m WAS!

I look forward to earning the various endorsements for the individual bands. I currently operate on 80m up, though I am looking to build a loading coil to allow me access to 160m.

I'm very interested in community service and I have successfully participated in several events. I'm also a member of our county Emergency Communications team as deputy "Home Stations" manager. I have earned a Communications Unit Leader (COML, Type III, All-Hazards) certification. Taskbook headed to Phoenix for state certification.

I am learning Morse code, though I am finding it to be a challenge. If you hear me on band and I make mistakes, please forgive the newby. Hi Hi

Equipment:

Currently, I operate an Kenwood TS-590SG feeding a 43' vertical (80m)  I'm have a portable setup that I can take camping with me and to field days.

I welcome all calls and I will answer all QSOs with a card either through the Bureau, Direct or Logbook of the World.I look forward to speaking with all of you. There is NO NEED TO SEND ME A SASE- I consider sending cards to folks that I make contact with a part of and an expense of the hobby- After all, considering the cost of the gear, an envelope and stamp are peanuts.

73,

-Mike
