Ham Member Lookups: 1074

My beginnings with ham radio started thanks to my uncle Keith in Michigan (now a silent key sadly). He would let me tune around on his equipment and we would discuss radio theory. My dad also helped whet my appetite by giving my brother and I old tube receivers to take apart.

I love 'old' tube type equipment, and run vintage "glow in the dark" rigs. I am always looking for more old, neglected equipment to work on. I especially have an interest in anything that utilizes an 'acorn' tube. I am actively seeking simple (or any) circuits (or radios)for the acorn tube..

I am currently restoring a vast assortment of radios, such as a 'vintage' Yaesu FT-101 (no suffix), with a Swan 250c for 6 meters. I primarily use half wave wire dipole antennas.

I've have ( finally)  twice gotten to sample sporatic E this year on 6m, (after wondering if it really existed!).

See you on the air! 7-3 6 meters Tues 50.200 SSB 7:30p
