I first received my Technician license on 5 - 12 - 10, upgraded to General Class on 11 - 2 - 10 and earned my Amateur Extra license on 2 - 25 - 12. I have really only started "working" the air waves since June of 2011. I am presently working on learning CW which I have had an interest in since I was a very young boy.

I have two sons. My eldest son Marcus (AC8HU) extra clsss encouraged my wife Pat (KD8NYP) general class and I into working towards our Ham licenses. Marcus is a chef and my youngest son Nathan is a band director. My wife and I were both teachers for 35 years and we are retired.

I have WAS QRP on SSB. This has been a lot of fun and I have met some very nice people. I received my ARCI WAS QRP SSB, Mixed Bands on March 30, 2012 & my ARRL WAS QRP Phone Basic on May 8, 2012.

I have now worked 186 DX Countries on SSB QRP (as of December 24, 2013). As ofFebruary 5,2015the addition of a new Yaesu FT DX 1200 has brought the total countries to 246. To date241 of these contacts have been confirmed. All of these contacts have been made by phone. I enjoy chasing DX. I received my DXCC Award on May 28, 2014.

I also enjoy making contacts on 2 meters and 6 meters when the bands are open. The addition of the Yaesu FT DX 1200 will add a little more "punch" to my signal on 6 meters.I have now added a Mirage B 1018 G Amplifier to increase my 2 meter Yaesu FT 817 Transceiver to over 100 watts.

Assembly of my new SteppIR 3 Element Yagi with 40/30 m dipole has been completed. My new Rohn 45G tower has been erected. The tower is 45 feet high. When I choose to operate QRP the new antenna will be a great help in getting my QRP signal out!

I have started using LOTW but I still prefer a QSL Card!

I am just startng (Dec.11, 2013) to try cw but I am very very slow. Please be patient with me.

I enjoy this hobby very much and when you hear my call please talk to me!
