First licensed in 1966 as a Novice, WN7JAV eventually worked up to Advanced class as WA7JAV. After a long lapse I got back on the air in November of 2012. The first equipment I picked up were some radios I always wanted when I was in High School. Found a nice Drake 2NT transmitter and a Drake R-4B receiver, really great radios. They bring back memories from those early days. Also have an older Icom IC-735 in case I feel inclined to work the phone end of the bands. Most of my time is spent on HF CW. I also found a passion for QRP. I've joined a few clubs: SKCC# 9895T - NAQCC# 6631 - QRP-ARCI# 15193 - 4SQRP# 687 - Flying Pigs# 3242.
I've been having fun working the CW sprints all QRP. Also been having fun building equipment. My latest adventure has been working QRP on 160 meters with my homebrew tube transmitter. Wound a tank coil for it and am getting 2.2 watts output. I'm having fun building my own equipment. So many projects-so little time!
My first project was a QRP tube Transmitter I built in 2013. I call her "Milli"-power output between milliwatts and 4 watts. Good learning experience.

"ONE WATTER VXO TUNED TRANSCEIVER"
Here are a couple of transceivers I have built recently. They are kits purchased from Diz/W8DIZ (kitsandparts dot com) called "OneWatter". They are single band VXO tuned transceivers. I have ones for 160M-30M-20M-15M. I built the 1W20 first and have 41 states worked towards WAS since September 2015. Best DX so far is Japan with the 30M rig running 900mW.
These are some photos of the finished radios with homemade enclosures made from copper clad board.

I hope to meet you on the air. Maybe using one of these little transmitters.
