I obtained my Tech license in January of 2015, as I was interested in FPV (First Person View) for my RC Airplane hobby (basically live video from your RC aircraft), and the non-licensed power settings at 5.8 GHz wouldn't take you to the end of our club's runway.

Oddly enough, in studying for my Tech license, I found the amateur radio so interesting in and of itself, that I still haven't gotten around to FPV!

I've used my license for HT work as a Ride Marshal on the MS150 bike ride from Houston to Austin, and I'm fascinated by using my HT to work "Easy-Sat" satellites (SO-50, LilacSat-2, AO-85).  I'm now an AMSAT member.

Just this week (June 20, 2016), I got on the HF bands for the first time, and I love that too!

Looking forward to learning more about DXing, high altitude ballooning, EM com, digital modes, the Code, eventually EME ... and, oh yeah, I still need to try that video from the RC aircraft!

This is an absolutely amazing hobby.
