Ham Member Lookups: 1925

Name is Bill. Retired in 98 after 31 years with the Eastman Kodak Company. I moved to Lakeland in December of 2000.

I was introduced to ham radio in high school. My first call was WN3HQQ. After a hiatus of nearly fifty years I returned to the hobby when my son decided to get his license. My son, also Bill Johnson, (KD0BLZ) lives in Littleton Co with his wife Liz (KD0GWV.) Liz’s dad, now silent key, was also a ham (WA0TKT.)

My shack is basic. Five radios, an Icom 7000 with a Signal Link USB computer interface, a Yaesu VX-170 HT, a Baofeng UV-5RE Plus, a Kenwood TS430S, and a Ten-Tec 1320 QRP rig that I built. For antennas I have a 20-meter dipole, a 40 meter dipole, and a chimney mounted j-pole.

I am active in the Lakeland Amateur Radio Club, am currently club Secretary, and volunteer as a VE for the club on a regular basis. I also manage the club’s blog at http://lakelandarc.blogspot.com/. You can learn more about the Lakeland Amateur Radio club here, and also by visiting the club’s website at http://www.lakelandarc.org/ .
