My love for electronics and technology has been with me since the young age of 12, building Heathkit and Knight radio equipment. I am lucky that my lovely wife has always supported me in all of my hobbies; from building and owning an A/Fuel dragster to boating, target shooting or riding Harley's. I have been heavly involved with computers and setting up wireless warehouse management systems. I decided to get my tech. license and then passed my General ticket three month's later. My main rig is a Yaesu FTDX-5000 with the DMU-2000 data management system. I have a Yaesu FT-2000 as a backup, and a Kenwood TS-2000 for the digital modes. I just picked up a Yaesu Quadra amp to go with my FTDX-5000, what a dream it's like having a 1000 watt radio, works flawlessly with it. I kept my Ameritron A-811H amp as a backup amp. I use a Yaesu 2900R for dedicated 2 meter work, and use two Yaesu 8800R dual-band for mobile work. For portable work I use a Yaesu VX-6R Tri-band handheld and a Baofeng UV-5R. My modest antenna farm comprises of a Mosley MP-33-N- Warc Tri-Bander Beam on a 55' U.S. tubular tower with a Yaesu G-800DXA rotor with a Idiom Press Rotor Card, A Titan DX vertical, Cushcraft AR-6, AR-2, Buckmaster 4 Band OCF Dipole, a full wave 40 meter loop at 25'. I use a Palstar AT2K for tuning it all it along with a Palstar DL2K Dummy Load. I use a Kenwood SM-220 Station Monitorto keep an eye on my out going signal. I use two laptops and two desktops for all of my tasks. That's are dog Jack, he always keeps me company while I am at my station.I want to thank all the ham operators that I have spoken to for advice and guidence and look forward to making many more friends on the airwaves.
