Hello,

My name is Bill. I'm an over the road truck driver. I own my own truck and I lease it to Swift Transportation. I also Train new drivers for Swift. I've been doing this for 17+ years and I enjoy what i do. I like traveling all over the United States and seeing all the wonderful sights. I take great satisfaction that I am teaching new drivers how to drive safely and starting their new career with the tools they need to be successful.

When I was a teenager My parents were involved with All American React. This was my first involvement with radio. I thought it was pretty cool but I did not do much with the radio we had. A 23 Chanel CB radio. My next interest in radio came when I started driving truck back in 1996. I had some fun and it was a useful tool in my career but there was to much garbage talk going on for me to stay to interested in it. Then after the Fire's in Southern California that came close to where we lived. My wife wanted to be more repaired for emergencies. I had this Idea in my subconscious when I found, (Ham Nation) on the TWIT network. Hosted by Bob Heil (K9EID),Gordon West (WB6NOA),George Thomas (W5JDX),Don Wilbanks (AE5DW),Dale Puckett (K0HYD) and Cheryl Lasek (K9BIK). This RE-Sparked my interest In Radio and With a thought to being better prepared for emergencies it was a no brainer. So In Sept of 2012 I took and passed my Technician test and in Oct of 2013 I passed my general the same day my wife passed her Technician test.

We Both have Icom 880H radios which allows us to stay in touch via DStar when I'm driving around the States. We also have a Yaesu FT-60 handheld. I'll be getting a DVap and Raspberry Pi to hook up to my WiFi hotspot to allow me to connect to DStar in more areas. I eventually Will get a Yaesu 857 for my truck and a screwdriver antenna to allow me to get on HF. I also plan to learn CW.

My Uncle has a Ham Lic. from when He was an Uncle Charlie. (FCC Radio airways rules enforcer) and My Wife's Sister and Brother-in-Law in Up State N.Y. are also Ham's.
