Thanks for visiting my QRZ.COM  page !!

Contrary to what some may think, this is not a vanity callsign. I do not golf very often, but I think I'll keep the call since it is certainly memorable.

After considering ham radio in the 70's, I finally got my General ticket September 28th, 2014.

I currently run a FT857d, Acom A1010, LDG AT600Proii tuner, and a 7 band OCF dipole at about 30'. Pretty compromised, as far as antennas go...but in this neighborhood, towers not a possibility.

I also run an 857d in my truck, with an SGC SG237 auto tuner, feeding a 30' coil of #12 thhn attached to the interior roof of my fiberglass camper shell. Not very hi Q, but it works, and is very stealth!  I have recently acquired an sg500 amp, which I am in the planning stages of installing along with an auxiliary battery.

I can be found regularly mornings on the Ohana Net ( www.ohananetradio.com )4:30-6:30 Zulu, 14.268 MHz, where there are a great bunch of guys from the mainland US, Hawai'i, New Zealand and Cook Islands, when conditions permit.

I plan to relocate the home QTH FT857d to our property on the Big Island of Hawai'i in November 2015, where we spend a fair amount of time, when weather here in the San Francisco Bay Area drives us to the tropics.  I am trying to decide what rig will replace the 857 here in the Cali Shack...possibly Icom 7300?  technology is getting pretty amazing in amateur radio these days.

Above, a picture of our home away from home, near Stinson Beach, California, where we body surf, (usually with a wetsuit, since water temperatures are usually 52-55F- which probably makes us more appealing to the great whites!!), play Ultimate Frisbee, and Rock Climb...or generally just chill out with friends...
