I finally took a break from other activites in my life to persue one of my long term desires to become an amateur radio operator.  It only took over 53 years from when my junior high school electricity shop teacher, Mr. Frank demonstrated his skill at contacting a fellow "Ham" using his Hallicrafters receiver and a separate transmitter selecting an AM frequency during a rainy day lunch period eat in,"I was hooked"...  I passed my technician class test in Mid January 2016  and just passed my General on April 30th.  I'm having a ball making contacts both in the states and into other countries. My most favorite contacts have been into Easter Island, and making contact with an Amatuer operator in North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

My equipment:

ICOM IC-7300

MFJ variable power supply

Traffie hex10-20 meter beam antenna

MFJ G5RV 80-40 meter dipole

Wilson 40" Crank up tilt over mast

Hy Gain Rotator, and control box.

Palstar AT2K antenna Tuner

Ameritron AL- 811 Amplifier

I love it when DX operators far away give me a 5x9 signal report during a QSO,

DX code of conduct

I will listen, and listen, and then listen again before calling.

I will only call if I can copy the DX station properly.

I will not trust the DX cluster and will be sure of the DX station's call sign before calling.

I will not interfere with the DX station nor anyone calling and will never tune up on the DX frequency or in the QSX slot.

I will wait for the DX station to end a contact before I call.

I will always send my full call sign.

I will call and then listen for a reasonable interval. I will not call continuously.

I will not transmit when the DX operator calls another call sign, not mine.

I will not transmit when the DX operator queries a call sign not like mine.

I will not transmitwhen the DX station requests geographic areas other than mine.

When the DX operator calls me, I will not repeat my call sign unless I think he has copied it incorrectly.

I will be thankful if and when I do make a contact.

I will respect my fellow hams and conduct myself so as to earn their respect.
