Not too much to report on myself.

I'm a loving husband, a caring father and dedicated son, brother and friend.

My days, and some nights, are spent on an agricultural research farm in Georgia.  I love my job, and it's been said, if you can say that, it isn't really a job.

Why did I become an amateur operator?  Like many, my fascination with radios started as a kid, with that first set of GI Joe walkie-talkies on a Christmas morning.  I grew up in the farming life, with low band radios in every truck and in some pieces of equipment.  Fast forward several years and I found myself drawn to, what I once considered, the wonderful world of GMRS.  The fascination with that quickly subsided, once I realized the amateur radio world was a far more entertaining and diverse group of people.

I was talked into getting my tech ticket by a friend, Sean W4SML, and was hesitant at first.  I got my tech ticket and started studying for the general the very next day.  After a short couple of weeks, and a few days after passing the general, I was working HF for the first time as a station for the Georgia QSO contest.  That night I was scouring QRZ and eHam for an HF rig of my own.  I haven't looked back and I haven't slowed down.

I love HF but spend my days on local 2m machines as well as DMR (TYT MD-2017), C4FM (Yaesu FT-2DR) and D-Star (Icom ID-51A Plus), which I run through my SharkRF OpenSpot "Go Box" (mobile cellular hotspot, 150M Smart Router and a 20,000 mAh battery).

QSL via QRZ, LoTW or Direct (you cover the cost to send me one, I cover the cost to send one back to you...a SAE would be helpful, but not required)

Thanks for stopping by.

My Station

Kenwood TS-140S, MJF 969 Tuner and a homebrew piece of wire center fed with ladder line.  A very modest start but it's working for me right now.

My daughter and I working Field Day 2017 at Victoria Bryant State Park in Northeast Georgia.  She was in pain that night, struggling with swimmers ear, but was a trooper and was very happy to help us pull out the weak signal call signs.

My home away from home.

And a beautiful double rainbow at the end of a long day on the farm.  God's promise to us that this too shall pass and there is a reward when it is over.
