When I was about 15 I got interested in electronics via CB Radio. My father applied for a license since I was too young and brought me a radio. I remember not being able to hear anything but static unless there was a mobile within a mile of my house. (Originally from Washington, DC. I eventually talked my father into putting up a vertical to which the world came alive. My interest peaked even more as I found interest in "Heathkit" products. After assembling a few of their products I sought out to be a HAM operator-the the only deterrent was the morse code. So, some 35 years plus here I am back into radio and finally into HAM. I'm a pilot by profession and travel extensively to many cities so the "DV Dongle" does me good.

Equipment: (On-the-Road) MacBook Pro/DV Dongle D-Star (Home) Icom 7300, ACOM 600s Linear Amp, Zero-Five 33 foot Vertical (10-80m / PalStar HF-Auto Tuner / PalStar LA-1K 1000w Amp and 2 HT's (Icom ID 51a/Yaesu FT 2D Fusion/Wires Capable)....and that's just the beginning

I also live in an "Antenna Restricted" community but fortunately, my home backs up to a "Green Belt" tree line where no other house is built behind me. I just recently purchased a Zero-Five 33-foot verticle which will be online this week. I should be good as I meet the restriction of "not visible from the road" as you drive by. I'm enjoying D-Star quite a bit and look forward to D-Star on HF. This is a great hobby!
