I go by the nick name "Skip" and have been licensed since 1958. I retired in 1980 after 21 years in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service and now own and operate a farm in central Virginia raising cattle and turkeys. I was active using the call KC4QP for 35 years but recently decided to get a vanity call and now have the call KS4Q.

My HF equipment is primarily Kenwood including: TS-590SG, TS-940S, TS-830S, TS-480 (mobile) and R-1000. I use an Alpha 8410 and Kenwood TL-922A linears with Palstar tuners. I am interested in the digital modes and use my TS-590SG, with Signalink interface and use HRD and N1MM software. HF antennas: Optibeam 5 band yagi at 100', Hi-Gain High Tower 8 band Vertical, 2 ele 40 meter yagi at 55 feet, 6 element 6 meter yagi at 50 feet, 80 meter dipole and 160 meter inverted L using raised radials. I also enjoy RTTY contesting and I am a member of the NR4M contest team.

VHF/UHF equipment; Yaesu FT-2800 and Kenwood TM-742a, TM-D700 and TH-D7A(G) used for APRS.
