My name is Tommy and I live in southern Greenville County in SC with my lovely wife, and our three wonderful dogs.
Currently I am using a Kenwood TS-480, Icom 5100 (mobile), a Icom 2820H and Kenwood TM-221A at home, an Icom 5100 mobile, and a Icom ID-51 HT for portable and DVMega use. My base 2 meter antennas are a dual bander mounted on a mast over the garage and a SlimJim type antenna, made of copper pipe, and installed inside the attic for a backup/severe weather antenna. My HF antenna is a dipole at about 30 ft high set up for 80m. I also have a ground mounted 4 band vertical with a lot of radials that does pretty well. I can usually be found on 147.165, the local Greenwood repeater, or the local DSTAR repeater in Greenwood, which is usually linked to 30C.
My OMISS number is 8894 and I am GIB. I confirm via LOTW, eQSL, or Direct..
I've enjoyed the hobby immensely thus far, and have enjoyed meeting a lot of great folks in my short time in the hobby. I got my Tech in January 2013, my General in May 2013, and I recently got my upgrade to Extra in December 2013.
I'm currently working in the IT department of a local hospital, and really enjoy working there. I'm also the Emergency Communications Coordinator there, and being an amateur radio operator obviously helped me be selected for that position.
The picture below is not of the greatest quality, but what you see is a hummingbird sitting on the dipole. The dipole is over the back deck, and the male hummingbird sits up there and defends the hummingbird feeder located below the dipole.
