I have been licensed as a Novice Class B since 1992 (2E1BEB), which was changed to an Intermediate several years ago. As of 17th May 2016, I now hold a full UK license.
I'm operating mostly on 2, 70 and D-Star but have recently started on HF too.
I am situated in the southeast of the UK on the Sussex/Kent border, 10 miles inland from the English Channel and 5 miles from where the 1066 Battle of Hastings took place. In fact we are alongside a place called Silverhill, which is where King Harold is rumored to have paid his soldiers in silver!
I have five operational radios:
Yaesu FT-817 ND attached to a WonderWand. I've also just received a Buddipole Deluxe system which I'm looking forward to experimenting with.
Icom ID-5100E to a Diamond X-30
Icom ID-51E Plus Handie
Yaesu FT-8800 in the car fitted to a Diamond SG-7700.
The next steps - As an instructor/Radio Officer with 129 Sqn RAF Air Cadets (Royal Tunbridge Wells), I am hoping to get our Squadron on the air with the callsign (GB0AC) shortly. Watch this space!
