Thankyou for visiting my QRZ page, feel free to add a web contact.

HF rigs in regular use are - Kenwood TS-590s and TS-50, Yaesu FT-857d and FT-817ND;
I'm quite new to QRP ops, but finding it very absorbing, definitely adds something when
your call is repeated back over a long distance. So far I've made it as far as Cyprus to the
East and New York to the West with only 5 watts. Often get no reply since the signal's so
tiny, but enough times sympathetic operators pick up on the QRP suffix and help the
contact become complete - thanks all who've done that for me!

Please note, everyone - I don't use eQSL
Confirmation via QRZ.com is all I ask. For those of you who don't use the QRZ.com log, no
worries - it was nice to have a contact with you.

Here's a link to a clip I shot on Monday June 20th 2016. Showing my FT-857d's head
on a Garmin GPS mount - a very useful combination.

Just below here is a shot of yours-truly on a "Museums On The Air" day on June 27th 2015 at
the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther - I was helping out the event organiser Colin
GM6HGW to crew the station over the two day event.

And below here is one of a local trip for some coastal DXing taken Monday May 4th 2015.
The antenna up on the masts is a full size G5RV - here it's almost twice as high as my home
antenna - my little house is low, my home HF antenna is in the attic, less than 20ft up.
Set up for a short DXpedition in Fife, Scotland

The shot below is of my old boat, now sold and with her new owner - part of the proceeds
funded an upgrade to the main home rig - now a Kenwood TS-590S.

Here's a sunset shot of St Andrews Castle, pic taken from the harbour looking West
where between 1999 and 2015 I kept a boat for inshore fishing & a little bit of lobster fishing.

NB - I'm M0HRL when in England on vacation.

WAB square is NO51

I'm an amateur photographer - see my work at

I've been a fisherman for over 50 years, am interested in radios, Canadian canoes, boats, books, old motorcycles, digital SLR cameras and landscape/bird photography.

Thanks for visiting this page - successful DXing to you.
