Hello and Greetings from NJ!
Thank you for looking me up. Was first licensed as KA2RQO while in college back in 1982. I became very active in 1989 on 10 Meter Phone and got the Upgrade bug and eventually made Extra Class in 1995.
Always operated from apartments and now my small backyard, enough space to mount a 40 meter dipole and ground mounted verticals. Love antenna building and experimenting and the latest antenna arrangement is a 40 meter OCF dipole up 30 feet with help from a DX Engineering fibreglass mast. I have a on-going Magnetic Loop Project going and using a Russian made Vacuum Air Variable and 1" dia. copper tubing.
Here is Mag Loop in my basement shack being tested with new cap/loop connections using paired 6 Awg. wire and copper connections. Use SS hose clamps to attach to capacitor. Also built latest PWM DC motor drive controller for smoother tuning.
These Mag Loops are very involved and very interesting!
Here is image from WSPR using 5 Watts on 20 meters with this Mag Loop IN MY BASEMENT! Funny, technically
my antenna is under ground!
Here is loop when I was first testing outside earlier this year. Want to change to lexan supports on one of my fiberglass 8 ft rodds eventually. Also still have to figure out a better/improved weather protection....projects never end really!
I also tinker in some QRP have the following:
-20M OHR Transceiver
-40M SWL Transceiver
I operated CW, Digital and SSB modes and QSL is good via LOTW and eQSL.
Update 7/12/16: Here is the latest addition to the shack, some IRON!!
A nice operating TS-520S. Needed some cleaning but was a real nice pickup...
And now I am officially in the boat anchor restoration part of the hobby...got this beauty from my Elmer, WA7NB and got it running without electrocuting myself (yet!) Needed alot of new parts, the VFO and I are not on a good talking basis but she is solid on 80M and 160M...now I need MIC for it.
Hpe to cu on the air, 73!
