Ham Member Lookups: 2607

The earliest I can recall being fascinated by radio was sometime in the early 60s when I crawled behind my parents' old Philco to check out the lady who was somehow singing in our living room. I remember looking 'way up inside and seeing nothing but a big empty box and some wires! I still get the same feeling when I look up at the hunk of wire hanging in my back yard and wonder how it could possibly allow me to talk to stations on the other side of the world.

I became a licensed ham in 1991 and upgraded to Extra in June of 1992. I operate about half-and-half CW and SSB, mainly ragchewing and trying to learn a thing or two about the world at large. The CW rig is a Ten Tec Eagle, which I operate mainly on 30 and 40 meters. I also enjoy operating SSB on 17, 20, 40 and 80 meters using a Ten Tec Paragon and an Ameritron AL-811 amplifier or using an ICOM 751A barefoot. The antenna in all cases is a Cobra Ultralight Junior at about 30 feet.
