Help me with my DX and WAS awards.

My first contact in the world of radio was as a teenager where my friend and I did some work for his fathers Service Station. We used Browning CB's for contacts while doing chores for his father.

As time went by I purchased my own CB and had many contacts with some very nice folks in my area, and was able to meet many of them. During these days I was able to befriend my "ELMER" Bob W3FTW (SK) from Lansdale, PA. During our many talks I was invited to visit him, to see his Ham Radio equipment. During many visits to Bob's I was intrudeced to CW and was given tapes to listen to as well. After a short time Bob and I were sending practice CW to each other and he told me to go take my test.

After studing some more of the Novice questions I went to the Philadelphia Radio Clubs testing night and was able to pass. Then I became KA3RAV.

This was in 1987,not long after that was able to pass my Tech test... I was able to purchase my first rig a Yaesu FT757 GX II and had a good time working many contacts on 10 Meter and some good CW contacts.

After some time I was forced to sell the radio and took a 20 + year layoff to ham radio. In 2008 I decided it was time to get back into radio work and was able to purchase a Ten-Tec Omni "D"   After working on Q&A for the General upgrade I was able to take and pass my test in Sept. 2010. On 5-5-2013 I was able to pass my Extra class test.

In November 2013 was able to become  ARRL Certfied for VE.

Now it's time to start re-learning my CW. Been studying online and via some mp3 files, also having help from Ed, WA3WSJ and Tony, NA3AR from the local area. Verrrrry slow (4WPM) copy yet but I will get there.

Working mainly 40 and 20 Mtrs.  I enjoy helping the local club (POTTSTOWN AREA AMATEUR RADIO CLUB K3ZMC) with any other projects I am able to make.

I also enjoy working the PA, NY, VA, NC QSO Parties, 13 Colonies,  and any scout and school roundups I find.

Having fun on Field Day 2014.
